Susan Dupont, of Kimberly, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 22nd at 81 years old following a brief illness.

Susan was born in Appleton, WI on July 4th, 1943, daughter to Joseph and Agnes (Weyenberg) Dupont. She was raised in Kimberly as one of 7 children, where she attended Holy Name grade school and Kimberly high school. She lived in Combined Locks while raising her family. She was a devoted mother, guiding her children to become educated and independent, like herself. Susan obtained an associate degree in accounting and spent her early career working at Kimberly-Clark in Neenah, then with Midwest Express Airlines in Milwaukee, where she lived for ~30 years. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Social Welfare from UW-Milwaukee later in life, and transitioned to a career that followed her degree, working in elderly care facilities in the Milwaukee metropolitan area until she retired. After retirement, Susan became an Associate for the Racine Dominican sisters, and volunteered at Siena Center in Racine. She was strong in her Catholic faith. She recently moved back to the Fox Valley, and lived mostly independently until shortly before her passing.

Susan will be remembered for her strong-will and toughness, but also for her wit and loving nature. She enjoyed the outdoors, and has instilled this in her children. She spent much time at the family cottage on Lake Winneconne growing up, and then later with her own family. She was an avid walker, hiker and cross-country skier, and took a keen interest in political activism. Susan also loved her music: Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, new age artists, and more. She was an avid reader, including the classics, personal growth writings, and the Bible. These interests, along with her strong spirit, live on in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Susan is survived by her daughter Jill (Dave) Nettekoven and sons Dan (Tracy) Curtin, Jeff (Cheryl) Curtin, and Eric (Carla) Curtin. She is also survived by her grandchildren Megan (Ryan) Steinberg, Laura (Tim) Verhagen, Mackenzie Curtin, Alexis (Matt) Knox, Madison Curtin(Justin), Ethan Curtin, Elise Curtin, Erika Curtin, Brady Wallner, Brenden Wallner, and Kiera Curtin, as well as several other step grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her sister Patricia Vandenboom, brother Steve Dupont (Jackie), sisters-in-law Margie Dupont and Sue Dupont, brother-in-law Robert Wahlers, and many nieces and nephews. Susan was preceded in death by her parents: Joseph and Agnes, brothers Tom, Mike, and Joe Dupont, sister Mary Wahlers, sister-in-law Dorothy Dupont, sister-in-law Joan Dupont, and brother-in-law Carl Vandenboom.

The family would like to thank all of the physicians, nurses and staff that cared for Susan most recently at Thedacare Physicians-Kimberly, Thedacare Regional Cancer Center, Thedacare Hospice, and Prairie Home Assisted Living, for their excellent care over the past weeks/months.

A small celebration of life will be held in the near future with immediate family, honoring Susan's wishes.
