Rosemary Elizabeth “Rosie” Vaughan, age 91, passed away peacefully September 2, 2020. She was born October 19, 1928 in Little Chute, Wisconsin to Joseph and Magdalen Plach. She married Grant Sherman Vaughan Sr., in June 1951 who preceded her in death in 1990.
Rosemary loved to meet and talk to new people wherever she went.
She never had a driver’s license and was an avid walker. She loved animals, especially dogs, and enjoyed doing crossword and word search puzzles. When Rosie wasn’t walking around the nursing home causing mischief or watching t.v., she could be found doing her puzzles. If Rosie had to choose between vegetables or sweets, she would always choose the sweets. She said that candy is what made her so sweet.
Rosemary is survived by her children: Margaret (Al) Martin, Jean Hammond (special friend Bernie), Mary (John) Bellmore, Ella Metko, Betty (Boyd) Hertzfeld, and Danny Vaughan (special friend Katie); her sister Betty (Jim) Wozniak, and many grandchildren, great- grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and many friends.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters: Vicky Vaughan and Diane Susor; two sons: Bert Joseph and Grant Sherman; her siblings: Richard Plach, Robert Plach, Grace (Gordy) Zuleger, and Roger Plach; a grandson David Bellmore, and sons-in-law David Hammond and Erb Metko.
A special thank you to the wonderful and caring staff at Atrium Nursing Home and Little Chute Health Services that cared for Rosie over the past 13 years.
A close family gathering to celebrate Rosemary’s life will be held at a later date.
