Ronald "Ron" Twellman

Ronald (Ron) LeRoy Twellman passed peacefully at his home on August 17, 2024. He was born on July 18—1950, to Herbert Walter and Dolores H ( Meyer) Twellman of Troy, MO. Ron spent most of his life in the area, graduating from Buchanan High School in 1968 and later attending the University of MO at Rolla before receiving his BA in history from the University of MO at Columbia in 1979. In 1988, Ron obtained his master’s in museum science.

Moving to Wisconsin in 1989, Ron joined the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) staff in Oshkosh, WI, as a Curator of Collections until his retirement in 2016—a position he truly loved. In addition to his career as a Curator of Collections at EAA, he volunteered as a curator at the Military Veterans Museum and Education Center. He served two of his seven years as a board member at the Military Veterans Museum. For the last several years, Ron enjoyed researching his family’s genealogy.

Ron is survived by his wife, Sheila; Children Rebecca (Paul Campbell) and Paula Blair; grandchildren Thomas, Katrena, Piper Campbell, and Annastasia (Kyle Melzer); and great-grandchildren Oliver, Leeland, and Ellis Melzer. Brother James (Rosanne) and Margaret Kopp-Lenk of MO. Nieces Laurie Strus, Katie Twellman, and Melina Twellman of MO and three nephews Jeff Stanek, Jason, and Dennis Kopp of MO. Ron was preceded in death by his parents and older sister, Barbara Stanek-Dunard.

A private celebration of life will be held later.
