Robert John Wittlin passed away at his home in Appleton on February 4, 2025 at the age of 92. Bob was born on March 16, 1932 in the Town of Center. He was the youngest of 8 children born to James and Margaret Wittlin of Black Creek. Robert was preceded in death by his seven siblings and parents.
In his early years, Robert lived on a farm where he developed his outstanding work ethic. He spent most of his life as a serviceman for the Wisconsin Gas Company. Robert was a true “fix-it” man and could fix anything and everything. He was humble, intelligent and hardworking.
In 1958 Robert married Rosella Sommers of Hortonville. Together they raised four daughters: Brenda (Marty) Thiel, Beth Wittlin, Bridget (Andy) Matthiesen and Bonnie (Jim) Vaughn. They welcomed six grandchildren : Macaire (Chase) Hulderman, Millaine (Joshua) Finch, Molly (Justin) Schweitzer, Sam Matthiesen, Mason Vaughn and Henry Vaughn and great-grandson Graham Hulderman.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 8th from 11:00-12:00 with a funeral mass and luncheon to follow at St. Edward’s Church in Mackville.
Robert was a quiet man with a great sense of humor. We will always remember the funny one-liners he came up with even as his health was declining. Although Dad is gone, he will be alive in our hearts forever.
Special thanks to St. Paul Elder Services and Thedacare Hospice who helped care for Dad in his final months.
That’s a big 10-4 until we meet again.
