Nancy Lee Green

November 24, 1935 — July 26, 2023

Kaukauna

Nancy Green, age 87 of Kaukauna, passed away peacefully at home on July 26, 2023.

She was born on her family farm near Fennimore, WI. in 1935, the fifth child of Leslie and Eunice Miller.

As a child, Nancy was lucky enough to be able to do some traveling with her parents. She was a lover of animals, especially horses, and all the cats and dogs they had over time. She enjoyed playing piano, and later cornet in the high school band. She graduated as the salutatorian of her Fennimore class of 1953. After high school, she attended nurse’s training at Methodist Hospital in Madison.

Eventually she ran into a handsome UW student and Fennimore acquaintance, Don Green, and they fell in love. Don could not believe his good fortune. She was warm, smart, quick to laugh and beautiful!

They married in 1956 at the Methodist church in Fennimore. The couple put down roots in Kaukauna where they raised four children, Kevin, Laura, John and Julie. Don and Nancy taught them to appreciate and participate in music. They instilled in their kids a love and reverence for nature and spent many years traveling in the US and having many summer camping adventures. In their later years they continued to camp, along with hiking, birding and cross country skiing.

Don and Nancy were members of Peace United Methodist Church in Kaukauna where Nancy participated in the choir for many years. She was known as a volunteer extraordinaire, both at church and in the community for six decades. She loved vegetable gardening and was a prolific card and letter writer to family and friends. She also enjoyed knitting, crafting and sewing, completing well over 100 tied comforters to give as gifts through the years. Both Nancy and Don attended many of their kids’ and grandkids’ music, theater and sports activities in Wisconsin and Minnesota.

We would like to thank Theda Care At Home hospice for the tender care they gave her in her last weeks. We also want to thank her wonderful and loving home caregivers, Sue and Deb, who helped take care of mom the last year and a half. We have been so lucky to have them as part of our wacky family!

Nancy has requested not to have a memorial. Instead, the immediate family will all get together to celebrate both their parents, somewhere out of doors as they have done so many times in past years.

Please consider giving a donation in Nancy’s name to a charity of your choice and go take a walk in the woods!
