Appleton - Nancy Ellen Brown, resident of Menasha, age 88, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 14, 2020 at St. Elizabeth Hospital with her family by her side as a result of complications from surgery. She was born in Northville, MI on November 14, 1931. Nancy was married to Clair Arnold Brown on June 30, 1951 in Northville, MI. Nancy and Clair were married for over 68 years.
Nancy grew up as an only child in Northville; her older sister having passed before Nancy was born. She attended Northville High School where she met her husband and later joined him on base while he was in the Navy stationed in Norfolk, VA. After several moves around the country they settled in Neenah, WI where Nancy worked at the Neenah Joint School District for several years. She had a great love of family, faith, and friends. She was lucky enough to get to know and spend time with her three great grandchildren which gave her much joy and happiness. Nancy also greatly enjoyed watching her four grandchildren grow up to become wonderful young adults, making sure to learn to text to keep in touch.
As Nancy’s family was quite small, she always stayed very close to everyone and kept the lines of communication open. She always knew what everyone was up to whether family or friends and cared deeply for all.
Everyone who knew Nancy knew she loved to talk. She would never hesitate to carry on a lighthearted conversation with anyone. She could bring out the best in people and we will always remember her bright wit, her kind gentle soul, her sense of humor, and her wonderful smile.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Clair Arnold Brown, two sons: Scott (Patricia) Brown, Neenah, WI; Duane (Ellen) Brown, Neenah, WI; grandchildren: Lauren (Jerry) Sell, Sherwood, WI; Shauna Brown, New York City, NY; Eric (Katie Giese) Brown, Appleton, WI; Nicole (Andrew) Radler, Germantown, WI; and 3 great grandchildren.
