Mike “Whiplash” Schneider age 68, passed away unexpectedly on April 4, 2022, surrounded by his family and close friends at ThedaCare – Waupaca. He was born August 29, 1953, in Neenah, son of the late James and Mary (Thompsen) Schneider. Mike enlisted in the United States Army after graduation from Neenah High School. He loved racing at WIR for many years, where he was track champion for three years in a row in the Sport Truck Division.
He enjoyed camping at River’s Edge Campground where he developed many good friendships.
He is survived by his loving wife: Cherie and her three children: Paula Stoltz and her children Travis and Mikey; Terri (Scotty) Buman, Dave (Shelby) Zegers and his three children Cody, Tori, and Dylon and Shelby’s children Jordon and Trevor; and Cherie’s bonus daughter Heather Sauberlich. A sister: Judy Melchert; niece Maryann Melchert; sister-in-law: Deb Schneider, and life-long friend Jeff (Margie) Syring
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Jerry.
The Christian Funeral Service for Mike will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at Emanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, located at 200 E. Quincy Street in New London. Visitation will take place at the church on Saturday morning from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King for the great care he was given for the past four years. Also, thanks to the physicians and nurses at ThedaCare – Waupaca for making him comfortable in his final days. We would like to also thank Chaplain Ben who Mike considered a friend and spiritual mentor. We will always remember the many kindnesses you all have shown to Mike and our family.
