Mary Beth Thompson

Mary B. Thompson (Geurden/Bruch), age 74, of Menasha passed away on August 22, 2024 (National “Be an Angel” day). She was born October 14, 1949, in Kimberly, WI to the late Martin and Lucille (Jansen) Geurden. Mary grew up in Kimberly and later she made her home in Menasha. She graduated from Kimberly High School in 1967 and was blessed with two children (Julie Vandehey/Eric Bruch). She worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital for over 35 years. While working at St E’s she had numerous positions, but her true passion was working on the Mental Health Unit. She was a vibrant person who opened her arms to all. Her laughter and smile were heartfelt. She was the life of the party with family and friends on any occasion. She was always proud of her family, especially her children/grandchildren/great grandchild and heritage. She spoke of them often and loved them endlessly. She held a special bond with dear friends (Mary, Barb, Jan, Sue Rae, Pauline) for over 40 years and had many “fun” adventures. She was also known as “Ma Bruch” to many of her children’s friends. She had a gift of listening, laughter and empathy to support. An amazing person to all! 

 Mary is survived by two children: Julie Vandehey and Eric Bruch (Molly). Grandchildren: Blake Vandehey, Breanna Vandehey, Bennett Vandehey, Taylor (Ani Bauer) Bruch, Trevor Bruch, Gabriela Bruch. Great Granddaughter, Adalee Hinc. Baby Boy Bruch (Taylor/Ani) due in October. Brothers: Dave(Sharon) Geurden, Randy (Chris) Geurden. Sister in law: Donna Geurden and also many nieces, nephews and special friends. 

 She is preceded in death by her parents. Brothers: Rodney Geurden, Roger Geurden, Clyde Geurden. Niece: Tammy Geurden. Nephews: Cory Corrao (Geurden) Great Nephews: Michael Paustian, Ethan Papendorf.

 The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to nurses and staff at Peabody and ThedaCare Hospice for compassion and care shown to Mary and family during her time there.

There will be a Celebration of Life on September 5, 2024 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Van Zeeland Park Pavilion, off Darboy Road in Combined Locks. Heart of the Valley Cremation Service, www.hovcremation.com, is serving the family.
