Kenneth Peter Huss

April 16, 1944 — March 29, 2025

Appleton

Kenneth "Ken" P. Huss, age 80, passed away peacefully at home on March 29th, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife, Ruth, and daughter, Carrie. Ken was born on April 16th, 1944, to Clarence and Odilia Huss, in Freedom, Wisconsin. He was the youngest of five siblings, and fondly remembered his childhood on the family farm, often saying, "There is nothing like that fresh country air!"

Ken's dedication to his country, his family, and his work shaped the life he lived. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves before being deployed as a Special Private E1 with the 18th Engineer Brigade in May 1968. He was honorably discharged in May 1972. On November 25, 1966, Ken married Ruth, his devoted wife of nearly 59 years, and together they raised three children.

Ken spent nearly five decades working at Thilmany, but he also worked in various roles, including with Service Master, his friend Jack's Lawn Care, and countless other ventures. His work ethic and devotion to providing for his family were unwavering. Outside of work, Ken’s heart was dedicated to spending time with his loved ones. He enjoyed many road trips with Ruth, his children, and, later, his grandchildren. Fishing was another great love of his, especially the trips up north with Ruth and his grandkids.

In retirement, Ken found joy in fishing at his leisure, tending to his garden with Ruth, and watching the birds at his birdfeeders. He cherished spending summer afternoons sitting with his neighbors, Dave and Tom, under the "sitting tree" in the front yard. Winters were filled with Packers games, crosswords, and the occasional stop at the gas station for scratch-off tickets.

Ken was also deeply committed to giving back to his community, volunteering with Scouting USA and St. Joe's Food Pantry.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Odilia Huss, and his siblings: Donald Huss, Verna Kruetzburger, and Helen Caughell. Ken is survived by his wife, Ruth; sons Ken (Debbie) and David Huss; daughter Carrie Stewart; grandsons Gerry, Skyler, Jesse, and Trevor; his sister Bernice Letter; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ken will be remembered for his strong worth ethic, love of fishing and dedication to his family.

The memorial service will be held at All Saints Memorial Church at 2:00pm on April 26th 2025. Coffee and pastries will be served at 1pm prior to the service. 100 N Drew St Appleton WI 54911
