Karla Kristine Wegner

Karla (Karlie) Kristine Wegner, 38, passed away peacefully on November 28th, 2023 in Appleton after a lengthy illness. She was born on April 1st, 1985 in Appleton, WI. She graduated from Appleton East High School in 2003 and earned her Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Fox Valley Technical College in 2005. Soon after graduating, Karla worked for the Village of Fremont Police Department and then the Village of Hortonville Police Department. She later worked a variety of clerical positions in the Valley. She was also a member of Christ The King Lutheran Church in Combined Locks.

Karla is survived by her parents, Deb Hawley (Chuck Hennricks) and John (Chris) Wegner; her son, Brayden Tyynismaa; her sisters, Katie (Shane) Zoz and Laura (Jeff Vance) Wegner; her brother, John Wegner Jr.; her nephew, Carter Zoz; and her nieces, Ella Zoz and Kalea Wegner: step-sisters, Jennifer (Keith) Shedd, and Brooke (Zachary) Zurawski; step-niece, Arcadia Shedd; and Step-nephew, Zion Zurawski.  She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Karla was preceded in death by her grandparents, Elwyn and Beverly Olson and Walter and Marie Wegner; stepfather, Charles Hawley; and uncles, Walter and Joseph Wegner and Douglas Olson.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt appreciation to Cherry Meadows & ThedaCare hospice teams for their loving and compassionate care given to Karla, and Pastor Nate Gauerke, and Vicar Sommer Loar for their visitation and prayers during Karla’s illness.

A visitation will be held from 9:30am-11:00am Wednesday, December 13th with a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 with Pastor Nate Gauerke and Vicar Sommer Loar officiating at Christ The King Lutheran Church, 601 S. Washington St, Combined Locks, WI 54113. The family invites all to join them for a luncheon following the service.
