Judith Ann Thede

September 30, 1941 — January 5, 2025

Menasha

Our beloved Judith (Judy) Ann Thede passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Sunday, January 5, 2025. Born on September 30, 1941, in Ashland, WI, Judy was the treasured daughter of Robert and Viola Doucette and graduated from Menasha High School in 1959.

Judy's legacy is carried on by her children: Tammy (Terry) Wittmann, Debie (David) Wright, Scott (Kathleen) Sell, Kristi Sell, Cori (Darrin) Thede, and Tara (Dave) Corson; her sister: Barbara Doucette; 20 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren; along with many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Cloyd Thede; her daughter, Barb Fels; and her sons, Cloyd Thede Jr., and Juan Thede.

Judy's life was filled with joy and passion. She was an avid reader, often reading 3-4 books a week, and loved traveling, especially to northern Wisconsin and Las Vegas. She was a dedicated supporter of her Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Wisconsin Badgers. Judy, known affectionately as Nana, had a special affinity for children, and her love only grew stronger when she became a grandmother. Her hugs, freshly baked cookies, and infectious smile could brighten any child's day.

Nana was a familiar and enthusiastic presence at her daughters' drum and bugle corps competitions and her grandchildren's sporting events. Even as her mobility declined, her cheering voice was always heard. Judy's warm personality and generous spirit extended far beyond her family. She could strike up a conversation with anyone and was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need, often showing up with freshly baked goods, clothes, or groceries.

Judy's appreciation for those who served the community was evident in her frequent visits to the local police and fire departments, where she would bring several of her famous pies. (Full disclaimer: As Judy was on her deathbed, several of her grandchildren were lobbying hard to get her pie crust recipe before she took it to heaven). Judy's legacy will be remembered for many things, but above all, her love for her family was unparalleled.

A family memorial will be held in the summer of 2025, and she will be laid to rest with her husband, Cloyd, at Green Lawn Memorial Park in Neenah. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are warmly welcomed to the Elisha D. Smith Public Library in Menasha, WI, a place that was like a second home to Judy.

Our family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the incredible staff of Compassus Hospice for their compassion and care.

What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments but what is woven into the lives of others.
