Joseph L. Alferi

Joseph Louis Alferi, 77, of Appleton, WI, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2023.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Meredith Alferi, and three daughters and son-in-laws, Susan Fox (Daniel Fox), Margaret Alferi (Eugene Kim), and Katherine Ratka (Andrew Ratka), as well as seven grandchildren (Emma, Evan, Zoey, Mavis, Anthony, Samantha, and Evelyn).   He is also survived by his sister and niece (Donna and Maria), and brother and sister-in-law (John and Lois).

​​​He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Helen (née Rechner) Alferi, sisters (Mary Lois, Jean Louise) and brother (James), as well as his son-in-law (Curtis Bengel).

​​Joseph (known as “Joe” or “Uncle Joe” by those closest to him) will be remembered for what brought him the greatest joys in life: spending time with his daughters and grandchildren, boating, weekends “up north,” cooking a perfect steak or pot of chicken soup, and cheering on his Wisconsin teams (especially the Packers, Badgers, and Brewers).  He is best remembered for his genuine, hearty laughs and his deep, devoted love of his wife, Meredith, celebrating 51 years of marriage together.

​​We honor Joe and envision him taking his houseboat out for an endless sunset cruise on the lake, now free from illness and the physical challenges he had in life.

​​A celebration of life with close family and friends will occur with details to be determined.

​​Memorial donations may be directed to Brewster Village (https://www.brewstervillage.org/donations/).  His family is forever grateful for the loving care he received from his Brewster Village “family” who went above and beyond to bring him comfort, his favorite meals, laughs, and love.  Deep appreciation is also extended to Compassus Hospice Care, who eased his passing and supported his family in his final days.
