Janice Elizabeth (Ross) Schroeder, (also known as Bugs and Grandma Jan), joined her parents, Edward Albert Ross and Ella Anna (Froelich) Ross, and her brothers, Byron and Dave, in Heaven on April 22, 2018. Jan was a devoted and beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She is now and always will be greatly missed by her husband Jim, her son Jimmy, her great-grandson Luke James Michaeu, her grandson Tanner Micheau and his mother Tonia Carlsen; her granddaughter Bailey Schroeder and her mother Gina Stuiber, special and lifelong friends Pat and Mike Hase, and her wonderful extended and blended family. Jan was also blessed throughout her life with great friends and neighbors.
She loved the Packers, the Badgers, Bon Jovi, and her family most of all, especially her husband, Jim. It was not exactly love at first sight. Jan got to ride the horse in the parade instead of Jim and he didn’t like that. Jan, on the other hand, knew a good thing when she saw it, and the happy couple was married on April 21, 1962, after only knowing each other for six weeks. They shared 56 years of life’s ups and downs without wavering in their commitment, respect, and love for each other.
Jan worked at Kresge’s and Treasure Island in her younger years and volunteered at Bethesda for many years later in life. She collected things and had great fun searching for treasures for other people’s collections too. She fancied Fancy Nancy and Mary Engelbreit. More often than not, she came home from the casino with more money than she left the house with. She was a generous and loving woman.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be scheduled at a later date which is yet to be determined. The family would like to thank all the friends and neighbors who have reached out. You have been a great source of comfort and support in our time of sorrow. In lieu of a memorial fund, we ask that you donate to your favorite charity in Jan’s name. Given Jan’s love of animals, especially Max, a donation to your local animal shelter would be a fitting tribute to her memory.
