James “Jim” E. Nitkowski, 72, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 31, 2025, with family by his side. He was born on April 19, 1952, in Milwaukee, the son of Josephine (Minarik) Nitkowski and the late Edward Nitkowski.

Jim is survived by his wife: Wendy; daughter: Shannon (David) Kiesner; grandchildren: Katie and Samuel Kiesner; sister: Nancy (Walter) Ziaja; a nephew: Justin Ziaja and niece: Katrina Morse; mother: Josephine (Minarik) Nitkowski; many cousins, other relatives and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his father: Edward Nitkowski.

Throughout his career in Information Technology, Jim brought wisdom and care to every role. His work with organizations such as Gentec Hospital Supply, Teletype, AT&T/NCR and most recently, ThedaCare, reflected his lasting dedication, leaving a meaningful impact on colleagues and friends alike.

Beyond his professional achievements, Jim was an enthusiastic lover of life’s simple pleasures. Whether refining his golf swing, motorcycling, enjoying the calm of a fishing trip, or taking in the fresh air while snowmobiling or skiing. His appreciation for the outdoors was evident. His adventurous spirit led him to explore the beauty of new places across the United States, yet his heart was always drawn back to the cherished cottage in Lakewood. For 40 wonderful years, he and his wife created a home filled with quiet joy, love, that shared memories with friends and family.

A devoted family man, Jim cherished his daughter and the family they built together, including his two grandchildren. His steady, profound love enriched every shared moment. He will be especially missed by his wife of 43 years, whose life was deeply intertwined with his, as well as by all who had the honor of knowing him.

In honor of his remarkable life, a celebration of life will be held at a later date, with details to be shared with family and friends as they become available.

A special thank you to all those who have been of support during his time in the hospital; especially the hospice team and all that they did.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) or a charity of your choice in his honor.

Jim will be dearly missed. His gentle kindness, love, and quiet devotion to family will forever remain in our hearts.
