Georgia Lee R. Still (née Krause) passed away peacefully in her sleep at 12:23 AM on Dec 23, 2024, at the age of 83. She was loved by many and will always be remembered for her kindness and generosity.
She was born on August 2, 1941, in Appleton, Wisconsin to the late Eleanor (née Lutz) and Roy Krause. She married Herman Still on February 13, 1960, and remarried him again in January of 2002.
Georgia Lee was struck with Polio when she was 5 years old and again when she was 9. She overcame many challenges due to the disease. She refused to be defined by it. She relearned to walk, bike, swim and just about anything she put her mind to.
She loved children and ran a daycare for many years of her life. She had a green thumb like her father and enjoyed tending to her plants—especially her rose bushes. She had a passion for canning, cooking, and baking. She enjoyed going shopping with her daughter at thrift stores and spending time with the cats.
She is survived by her daughters, Cindy (Tom) Balster and Deanna (Kevin) Raatz; her grandchildren, Gretchen (Mark) Raatz, Brody (Nick) Lemke, Matt Raatz, and Conner Lemke; adopted grandchild, Austin Lopez; her sisters-in-law, Janice Krause, Shirley Still, and Toby Krause; her son-in-law, Jack Lemke; and her special niece, Dawn Krause.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Eleanor and Roy Krause, and her brothers William, Bruce, and Jody Krause.
A celebration of life will be held in the summer.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Shriners Children or March of Dimes in her name, two of the organizations that helped her as a child.
