Oshkosh

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gary Gene Tank, a cherished member of the Oshkosh, WI community, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2025 at the age of 69. Gary was born on December 13th 1955 in Oshkosh Wisconsin to Gene and Bea Tank.

Gary was a graduate of Oshkosh West High School in 1974. After growing up in Oshkosh, he served some time in the army, including a tour in Germany. Upon returning to the US Gary drove cross country semi, settled in California for several years and then spent his remaining time back in Oshkosh eventually retiring from Amcor (formally Bemis). Gary was a jack of all trades, known to not sweat the small stuff. He loved to hunt, fish, and play cards. He enjoyed hanging out with his dog Molly and the love of his life Patti while listening to his favorite music. He had a calming effect on people, always living in the moment and ready to help anyone in need of a hand.

Gary is survived by his loving mother Beatrice Tank, brothers; Glen (Lori), Steve, Mark (Jennifer), sister Sandy Earl and Aunts Barb Panske and Gloria Tank.

Nieces; Connie Tank, Dawn Butts, Courtney Earl, Neenah Earl, Whitney Tank, and Carrigan Tank.

Great nieces and nephews; Alli, Prestyn, Weston, Jace, and Koby.

Girlfriend Patti Giese and the Reichenberger family (Mark, Dan, Pete, Judy, and Ann).

Gary was predeceased by his wife Helen Tank, father Gene Tank, niece Jamie Tank, and several other cherished family members.

Gary’s fun-loving spirit, generosity, endless humor, and zest for life will be greatly missed. Gary was fond of saying “If I could put a smile on someone's face everyday and make them laugh, it made my day.”

A celebration of life will take place in April or May. A private family service will take place with interment at Lakeview Memorial Park, Oshkosh WI. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Oshkosh Humane Society 1925 Shelter Court Oshkosh WI 54901 in Gary’s name.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at Theda Care Appleton ICU for their exceptional care and compassion.

Although Gary is gone, he will live in our hearts forever.
