Estela “Mima” C. Llamas (Portuondo) Little Chute, WI
In an amazing act of self-prophecy, Estela slipped on a banana peel and landed on the other side of the mountain, passing from this life to the next on March 4th, 2024.
Estela was born in Cuba, but relocated to Connecticut when she was five years old. After her marriage to Ruben Llamas, she relocated to California and eventually Wisconsin as her final home. The family in her life was numerous, from siblings, children, unexpected children, grand kids, great grand kids and more. Her heart was always open.
Estela leaves behind a fierce legacy of kindness, grace, loyalty and most importantly love. It would be impossible to attempt to summarize the many acts of selflessness throughout her life. She made people feel loved, cared for and valued. Five minutes with her on your worst day and she could change your whole perspective, and probably make you laugh.
Estela was someone who had her door open, no matter if you needed to stay for a day or a year. She would take your late-night phone calls to talk you through anything. She could make you laugh so hard, providing a balm for the soul. She gave us the perfect example of how to be patient, forgiving, kind, and to do all things with love.
She touched so many hearts and was so loved. To know her was to love her.
Mom had a lifelong love affair with all things sweet to eat, Diet Coke, rum raisin ice cream, Famous Dave's, sports and a secret love for all animals.
Estela was exceptionally proud of her family. She would rave about her family’s achievements, the love and respect she felt, evident from the twinkle in her eye. All the Llamas family are proud to have known, loved and been loved by such an amazing human.
Estela Llamas, the Queen of kindness, the Mother of many, the epitome of Grandma’s, secret animal enthusiast, your life gave purpose and unconditional love to all. Her legacy will be carried on in the spirit of her family and friends. Rest in peace sweet Mima. A love like yours will live on our hearts and souls forever.
