Derald D. Schwartz

Derald D “Herman/Hermie” Schwartz, 75, passed away on Friday Feb 21, 2025, peacefully at home with his 3 daughters by his side. Hermie was born July 28th, 1949, in Fond du Lac, Wi, to Francis “Ginty” and Ruth Schwartz. He was a 1968 graduate of LP Goodrich High School in Fond du Lac. He married Mary (Berlowski) Meilahn in 1969, in which they later divorced, but remained very good friends throughout the years.

From 1969 to 1971, Hermie served in the US Army, stationed in Germany. When he returned home from service, he soon began his 40 year long career at Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac from which he retired in 2009. He made countless life-long memories and friendships during his time there.

Hermie had many hobbies, and was always on the go. If he wasn't at a stock car race with his dad and brothers, you could find him at the casino. He enjoyed family fishing days, bowling, and taking long drives, even when he had nowhere to be. He also enjoyed car shows with his pristine, well maintained vehicles. Hermie was a long time member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 270 and the Fond de Vettes Corvette Club. He made friends everywhere he went!!

Hermie is survived by his 3 daughters, Tammy Schwartz, Angie (Mike) Plonsky, and Amy Schwartz; grandchildren, Katlyn Merrill, Joshua Merrill (Caitlin Huenefeld), Zach Plonsky, Colton (Bree) Plonsky, Gracie Plonsky, and Rylee Schwartz; great-grandchildren, James, Landon, Ashton, Kinsley, and Gerald; siblings, Daniel “Fuzzy” (Phyllis) Schwartz, Darlene (Kenneth) Pautsch, Donna Knepel, and Debbie Schwartz; sister-in-law, Barb Schwartz; his kitty, Rosie; as well as many nieces and nephews, and an enormous amount of friends near and far.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis “Ginty” and Ruth Schwartz; brothers, Dale and Darwin Schwartz; brothers-in-law, Stephen Waltz and Harvey Knepel; and one nephew, Albert Pautsch.

Cremation has taken place.

A Celebration of Life will be held at The End Zone, 507 N Main Street Fond du Lac, on Saturday March 15th, 2025 from 5-9 pm. We invite everyone to come and celebrate our dad. 

Tammy, Angie, and Amy would like to thank Melissa and Heather from SSM Hospice Home of Hope for all of the loving and compassionate care they showed to our dad during this difficult time, and for being a big support system for us girls! And also to Chaplain Alan for the prayers and helping dad find peace in his time of need.
