David Alan Smith

David Alan Smith, age 84, went to be with his Heavenly Father on October 13, 2024. He was born on May 9, 1940, in Jacksonville, FL. During his working career, David tramped construction laying phone lines and was also a supervisor for Fairbanks for many years. Following retirement, he worked at what was to become his favorite job: training US military troops at Fort McCoy in Wisconsin.

David loved spending time outdoors. From fishing, and hiking to camping, if it was outside, he was all about it! He also enjoyed collecting antiques and checking out the local car shows. Above all, David simply loved to spend time with his longtime partner Doreen and her sons Joseph and Michael Sailer. Together they rescued dogs and especially enjoyed the part of that process when they could rehome a healthy pup to a good home. He was a loving and caring man, and truly made in impact in the lives of those who knew him.
