Carrie Ann Felzer passed away July 4, 2023 due to breast cancer, comfortably and quietly in her home with loved ones at her side. She is survived by her Significant Other, her Mother, her Sister, her Brother, and many close friends and family. Additionally she is survived by her Fur Children Jake and Elwood Akita, precious Fig the Cat. She was preceded in death by her Father Jeffrey.
Carrie was born December 4, 1972 in Appleton.
Carrie had a passion for photography and had a talented eye for just the right picture. She had an artistic eye not just with photography but also ambiance. A hard worker, she always found a way to come to work and get the job done. In her work life she worked as a bartender, in the photography business, a receptionist and as a bookkeeper through her lifetime; always and intentionally with a small business. At home, she loved caring for her pets; they were her children and as was as much as a mom to them as any mom could be. She loved her pets very much and were the light of her life. She loved gardening, plants and caring for her yard. One could always count on Carrie providing homemade soups and salsas come harvest time. She had a dark and dry sense of humor. She rode with a skeleton in her passenger seat. Carrie loved Halloween. She was a collector of old and forgotten things. She decorated with old beautiful tombstones she found in her back yard.
Carrie always found a way to help her friends throughout the years whether she let people use her garage as a storage space or let them live out of their van in the driveway, or rented out a room to a young couple in love. She’d also adopt pets who needed a good home, even elderly pets at times. She was not an ageist with pets or humans.
She was quirky and had a wonderful laugh. She was honest, loyal and polite.
The afternoon she passed was a warm summer afternoon, Independence Day. The sky was perfect deep blue with white clouds. Golden sunshine slanted through her windows, dappling from the leaves of her favorite tree, filling her home with warm, quiet comfort. Despite the spread of the cancer she remarkably was in little pain and was able to communicate with loved ones to the end.
We wish to thank the Doctors and Nurses at the Cancer Center, the Emergency Room Doctors and Nurses and the 4th Floor Nurses and Specialists all at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Appleton. Each of you provided her expert and careful, gentle care that allowed Carrie to enjoy her life to the fullest it could be despite her diagnosis.
