Carolyn May Steenis, age 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 18, 2020. She was surrounded by her loving children. Carolyn was born April 4, 1936 in Appleton. After graduation from Appleton West High School class of 1955, Carolyn worked several jobs, but what she enjoyed most was working with her daughter to manage their craft store. She also enjoyed helping raise her grandkids and great grandkids over the years. On May 19, 1956 she married her high school sweetheart Edward G. Steenis. They enjoyed 58 years together. Carolyn and Edward loved spending time with their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Carolyn was her family’s biggest fan and enjoyed cheering them on in many different sports. Carolyn and Edward also enjoyed traveling in their motor home throughout the United States and Canada while visiting and meeting up with their many dear friends to play cards and enjoy ‘fun’ times together. Carolyn’s loved ones cherish the many memories of the times spent with her and Ed at the ‘cottage’, Christmas traditions (Carolyn’s favorite time of year), and the abundance of love and laughter that she shared with them in every moment. Survivors include children, Edward (LeaAnn) Steenis, Lynn Rathsack, and Theresa (Ron) Bouchard; grandchildren, Nicole (Bryan) Hoerning, James Steenis, Jason (Sara) Rathsack, Jacob Rathsack, Justin Rathsack, Betsy (Ben) Rachubinski, Katie Bouchard, Jennifer (Jeff) Berndt, Stephanie (Josh) Konkle. Carolyn was also blessed with eight great grandchildren, Austin and Addison Hoerning, Rilyn Rachubinski, Hailey and Carter Berndt, Nadalyn Steenis, Lola Rathsack, and Everly Konkle. Carolyn is further survived by her sister, MaryAnn (Jerry) Maas; brothers, Tim (Doreen) Mitchler, Tom Mitchler, Larry (Debbie) Mitchler; sister-in-laws: Alyse Mitchler, Cheryl Willems; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Carl Sengstock, Herman Gehrt, and Fred and Char Steenis. Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband Edward G. Steenis; her parents George and Theresa Mitchler; her father- and mother-in-law Edward Sr. and Vesper Steenis; brothers, George Mitchler and James Mitchler; a sister-in-law Melody Mitchler; dear friends, Pat Sengstock, GayAnn Wichman, and Shirley Gehrt. It is comforting to know that great grandma is lovingly holding in her arms her great grandchildren who also preceded her in death. Due to COVID-19, the immediate family will be holding a private service at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date for extended family and friends. Love you more.
