Carole Leslie

August 13, 1935 — December 22, 2014

Carole (Fred) Leslie, age 79 of Greenville, passed on to be at the side of our Heavenly Father on December 22, 2014 at 9:12 PM, after a brief confinement at Appleton Medical Center due to respiratory problems and congestive heart failure.

Carole was born in Judson, Indiana to Cecil and Juanita (Jones) Gaines on August 13, 1935 (Friday the 13th!). At about age ten, the family moved to the Rockville, Indiana area, and Carole graduated from Mecca Schools where she was part of the cheerleading squad.

She was the consummate Mom and Homemaker, and took great pride in her cooking ability. Her fudge, pies and deserts were always gone in a heartbeat, and the high point of any season was the family gathering, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas – she loved every minute of preparing huge dinners, and truly "came alive" when the family were all at the table.

During her career years she was employed as a bookkeeper, Bank Teller, Head Teller, insurance secretary, owner-operator of The Thesis Center in Madison, a tour guide for Nationwide Travelers, and finally with husband Bill, as a Realtor with Century 21 Great American Homes in Appleton. She couldn't stay retired completely, and became Recording Secretary for Grand View Golf Club, Inc., and Executive Secretary/Treasurer of the Central Wisconsin Golf Association, her "Retirement Jobs". She loved the game of golf, and while she readily admitted she would never become a pro golfer, it didn't diminish her enthusiasm for the game. She should also be recognized for her 32 years as a "trivia mom" to Team Jabberwocky participating in the Annual Lawrence University Trivia Contest. She never met a stranger, and was always willing to lend a hand wherever she could.

She was married to William A. Leslie on December 26, 1961, in Rockville, Indiana and he survives. She is also survived by their three children: Michael (Gail), Janine, and Brian. Surviving Grand Children are: Travis (Lauren); Audra Schultz (Jacob); Danielle; Vanessa and special friend Tim Beltz; and Madison Melchion. Travis and Lauren presented her with a Great Grand Child, Harlow, and have advised that he is soon to be joined by a second great grand child early in 2015. Also surviving are her two brothers, Denney Gaines (New London, WI) and David (Aleta) Gaines (Meeker Colorado) in addition to nieces and nephews.

Her Parents, Cecil and Juanita Gaines, her Daughter Schellee, and Sisters Patsy Harden and Nancy Hubble preceded her in death.

Bill and the family would like to invite family and friends to join them in a celebration of her wonderful life, which will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2015, from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM at one of her favorite places, Grand View Golf Club, 135 John Street in Hortonville. (Casual attire, please).
