Alan "Al" Charles Cascarano

January 24, 1965 — February 21, 2025

Appleton

It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Alan Charles Cascarano, age 60, on February 21, 2025, at his home in Appleton, WI.

Alan was born on January 24, 1965, in Lake Forest, IL, to Andrew and Laurann (Gustafson) Cascarano and grew up in Lake Bluff, IL. A graduate of Lake Forest High School, he excelled in football, baseball, and basketball, lettering in all three sports. He went on to receive his degree from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.

Alan was a beloved father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a chef at heart, transforming everyday ingredients into extraordinary dishes. Throughout his life, his culinary passion went beyond merely feeding family and friends; it nourished and brought people together. His love for cooking began in his mother's kitchen, evolving into a successful career where he opened two local favorites: Pizza Pronto and Little Italy, in Lake Forest. He later flourished in restaurant management at Old Country Buffet in Kenosha, WI, and Applebee's in Appleton, WI.

Beyond his professional life, Al also enjoyed many recreational activities. He was an excellent golfer; he may have missed his calling. Al and his father won multiple member/guest tournaments at his father’s home in Bonita Springs, Florida. Many golf club members joked that he was Andy’s “ringer.”

Al had a deep love for the outdoors, enjoying fishing, hunting, hiking, biking, and especially his ATV adventures in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Alan was happiest when feeling the open air, the thrill of moving through the great outdoors. His energy and zest for life were contagious, and he was always ready for an adventure.

Alan was most passionate about being a father to his daughters, Samantha and Eva. They were the center of his world, and he cherished his time with them and their family vacations and camping trips beyond measure.

Alan is survived by his daughters, Samantha and Eva and their mother Jill Granger; his sister, Lisa (Andres) Viramontes; nephew, Cameron Viramontes; niece, Annalisa Viramontes; uncle & aunt, Charles and Maggie Gustafson; as well as many cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Laurann Cascarano.

The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. A private family service will be held in honor of Alan Cascarano.
